Emergency Dentists of Austin, Texas

What constitutes a dental emergency? Some of the most common emergencies include:

  • Chipped, broken, and fractured teeth
  • A permanent tooth that falls out or gets knocked out
  • A painful toothache
  • Abscessed / infected tooth
  • Lost crown or filling

One of the main reasons people require emergency dental care is due to sports injuries. Two of the most common dental sports injuries involve a tooth being either knocked out or broken. If a tooth gets knocked out or broken in half, never handle it by the root and never brush or scrub the tooth. Gently rinse it in water instead.

Try to put the tooth back into the socket and have the injured person gently bite down on a handkerchief or towel. If you are unable to re-implant it, place the tooth in cold milk. If milk is not available, wrap it in saline-soaked gauze or place it in a container with saliva. Be sure to bring it with you when you come in to see us.

If you have a toothache, schedule an appointment with us as soon as possible. Do not put it off. Toothaches are a sign of a serious dental issue, such as an abscess or infection that can rapidly progress. In many cases, you may need an emergency tooth extraction.

When you need emergency dentistry in Austin, Texas, call myDental. We have convenient locations and welcome the opportunity to serve you when you need it most.
